What is Qigong Therapy?

Qigong healing (or Medical Qigong) has been shown in studies to assist and improve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Gentle practices combined with deep breathing allow the body to turn down the fight or flight system and begin to relax the body and its systems allowing the body to heal. Qi is able to flow to the places in the body that have previously held tension, stress or blockages.

Qigong breathing is vitally important. The breath is slow, deep and relaxed, coming from the diaphragm. This type of breathing is very calming and balancing for the mind and body; counter-acting the effects of worry and stress.


One on one sessions (Qigong healing or therapy) are specifically tailored to the individuals needs. The focus is on awareness of the breath and then the body, bringing awareness to the body in a supported, present and relaxed manner. This creates a space for relaxation on a deeper level allowing qi to flow and restore optimal health and wellbeing.


The therapist assists you to stay in awareness (focused attention) while being present in the body. The Qigong therapist teaches you to rebalance your body and mind when it becomes challenged by emotions, thoughts, pain and disease, whether these be chronic or temporary. By understanding and being able to practice this focused awareness the body is able to enter a self healing mode - where QI flows and nourishes the body where needed.


This method is practiced in a One on One environment (this can be done in-person and over zoom).


One on One sessions provide you with the support and practices in a safe nurturing environment that equip you to achieve the same results in your life.


What to expect in your Qigong therapy session?

A one on one Qigong therapy session with Jo works to clear the body of energy blockages. 

Removing emotional, physical, and mental blockages enables the innate life force or Qi to flow freely, bringing a sense of peace and calm, restoring balance to the body.

The Qigong therapist may perform acupressure to Meridian points, may use their hands over a part of your body or work in the aura of your body. Each method is designed to work on increasing the flow of Qi in your body to support your body to heal itself.  

This healing is designed to not only increase the flow of energy through the body but also to release the points of tensions within the muscular structure where there is physical damage or the emotional issues are trapped. 

Each session will be individually suited to your particular needs.

You will remain fully clothed and the qigong therapy may range from sitting, talking lying down while being in awareness. At times you also may receive Qi from the therapist. 

You may also be supported with qigong practices to continue the healing at home.

Zoom Sessions

Qigong therapy sessions over zoom are similar to an in person session in that, the Qigong therapist will focus their awareness on you and your body. You may guided to particular acupressure points and to brush meridians all while maintaining your focus on the breath. You will sit and talk while in awareness (an increased focus on the breath and balanced breathing).

This enables you and the therapist to be both focused on strengthening and supporting your qi flow  eg. improving your health and wellbeing.
